Scrisorile, cuvintele care c\u0103l\u0103toresc prin lume, sunt firul sub\u021bire, dar puternic, care \u021bine laolalt\u0103 cele dou\u0103 p\u0103r\u021bi ale unei familii divizate de emigra\u021bie. Ele exprim\u0103, nu \u00eentotdeauna \u00een mod explicit, suferin\u021ba pe care o provoac\u0103 dezr\u0103d\u0103cinarea din lumea proprie, izolarea \u00een care e\u0219ti cufundat \u0219i discriminarea la care e\u0219ti supus. \u00cen acela\u0219i timp, ele fac ca ochii celor r\u0103ma\u0219i \u00een \u021bar\u0103 s\u0103 \u00eentrez\u0103reasc\u0103 marile posibilit\u0103\u021bi oferite de \u021bara de sosire \u0219i \u00eei \u00eendeamn\u0103 astfel pe al\u021bii s\u0103 plece.<\/p>\n<p>O caracteristic\u0103 general\u0103 a scrisorilor emigran\u021bilor este transpunerea expresiei orale \u00een scris: se scrie a\u0219a cum se vorbe\u0219te, cu ad\u0103ugarea unei ortografii \u00eendoielnice (\u00een special a cuvintelor str\u0103ine \u0219i a cuvintelor italiene str\u0103ine de propria mo\u0219tenire lingvistic\u0103) \u0219i a unei punctua\u021bii improbabile.<\/p>\n<p>Dar \"adev\u0103ratele\" scrisori sunt fotografiile pe care emigrantul le trimite \u0219i le schimb\u0103 cu familia, rudele, prietenii. A\u0219adar, \u00eentrebarea este: poate fi fotografiat\u0103 emigra\u021bia? Teoretic, pentru a face o descriere exhaustiv\u0103 a acestui fenomen, ar trebui s\u0103 avem la dispozi\u021bie un num\u0103r mare de imagini; \u00een realitate, \u00eens\u0103, fiecare fotografie spune multe lucruri \u0219i con\u021bine multe puncte de reflec\u021bie \u0219i de ra\u021bionament diferite.<\/p>\n<p>La Ellis Island, acel grup bine ordonat de oameni \u00een marea sal\u0103 de adunare \u0219i \u00eenghesui\u021bi, prin iluzie fotografic\u0103, de \"gratii\" care \u00eei fac s\u0103 par\u0103 prizonieri impresioneaz\u0103 la fel de mult, poate chiar mai mult, dec\u00e2t datele statistice.<\/p>\n<p>Iar \u00een numeroasele fotografii realizate cu emigran\u021bii pe fundalul centrelor de \u00eengrijire - fie ele catolice sau laice, din perioada marii emigra\u021bii sau a exodului de dup\u0103 cel de-al Doilea R\u0103zboi Mondial - modelul este mereu acela\u0219i: b\u0103rba\u021bii sunt \u00eenf\u0103\u021bi\u0219a\u021bi din spate, \u00eempov\u0103ra\u021bi de greutatea bagajelor, suger\u00e2nd ajutorul, aproape \u00eembr\u0103\u021bi\u0219area care li se ofer\u0103.<\/p>\n<p>C\u00e2nd suportul fotografic a fost la \u00eendem\u00e2na oricui, fiecare emigrant a putut s\u0103-\u0219i \"creeze\" propriul album de imagini, construindu-\u0219i \u0219i edit\u00e2ndu-\u0219i \"imaginile frumoase\" \u00een fiecare detaliu.
